When You Lose A Lot
โAfter Lot separated from him, Yahweh spoke to Abram, โLift up your eyes and lookโฆโโ
Genesis 13:14โ17 TPT
Loss is rarely comfortable, but in Godโs Kingdom it often becomes the doorway to increase. Abram experienced this truth repeatedly. Scripture records at least seven moments when he was separated from people, places, and even possessionsโand each time, it unlocked new revelation and blessing. Here in Genesis 13, after Lot departed, God gave Abram a fresh vision of his inheritance, a promise so vast it stretched beyond the horizon.
Sometimes God has to remove what feels familiar in order to make room for the future. Lotโs presence had clouded Abramโs clarity. Only when the separation occurred did God say,ย โNow, lift up your eyes.โย In the same way, there are people, places, or patterns in your life that may unintentionally crowd out Godโs voice. You might not notice the weight they place on your heartโbut God does.
The One who sees all things hears conversations you never hear, knows motives hidden from your view, and discerns who and what will carry you toward His promisesโor away from them. Thatโs why pruning is an act of His love. Every cut, though painful, is a preparation for fruitfulness.
So donโt fear loss. Donโt cling to what God is asking you to release. When old alignments shift, and new ones appear, trust that He is guiding you toward increase. What looks like subtraction often becomes multiplication in His hands.
Lift up your eyes today. Look in every direction with faith. God has more for you than you realize. Step forward, walk the land of promise, and believe that even in loss, He is leading you into abundance.
Prayer: Father, thank You for every pruning that leads to growth. Help me trust You when things are removed, knowing You are preparing me for greater promise. Amen.

Today, I declare: even in the pruning, I will praise. Even in loss, I will trust. โThe Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spiritโ (Psalm 34:18). Though the pruning is painful, I trust the hand of the Gardener. โEvery branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruitโ (John 15:2). What feels like cutting back is actually making room for greater growth.
I may not understand the why, but I rest in the Whoโmy Father who brings beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3) and turns mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11). I release what was, and I open my heart to what will be. In the soil of sorrow, new life will spring forth. God is not done with meโHe is refining, restoring, and renewing.
