Trust The Transformation

Trust The Transformation

โ€œWe are being transfigured into His very image as we move from one brighter level of glory to another. And this glorious transfiguration comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.โ€ โ€” 2 Corinthians 3:18 (TPT)

When Transformation Feels Like a Mess

The metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly is one of creationโ€™s most fascinating miraclesโ€”and also one of its strangest.

Inside the chrysalis, there is a stage when the caterpillar is no longer really a caterpillar, but it isn’t yet a butterfly either. It has broken down into something resembling biological โ€œmush,โ€ while an entirely new creation is being formed.

Sometimes our spiritual journey feels exactly like that when God takes us through seasons that feel like mush. Weโ€™re neither one thing or another. We feel suspended somewhere between the old and the new.

It can be disorientating and confusing and we wonder, โ€œDid I make a mistake? Did I really hear God? He promised me wings, so why do I feel like mush?โ€

Don’t Go Back to Egypt

The children of Israel knew something about this.

God had miraculously delivered them from slavery, but when the wilderness became difficult, they began longing for Egypt again.

โ€œWe remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no costโ€”also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlicโ€ (Numbers 11:5).

Isn’t it amazing how quickly we can romanticise the past when the present becomes uncomfortable?

They forgot the chains because they were focusing on the cucumbers!

But Egypt wasn’t their destiny.
And neither is your past.

There are seasons when the safest thing you can do is keep moving forward with God, even when you don’t understand what He is doing.

Paul tells us,

โ€œWe all, with unveiled faces, are looking at the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, and we are being transformed into His image from glory to gloryโ€ (2 Corinthians 3:18).

Notice the word transformed.

God isn’t simply improving you. He is conforming you to the image of Christ.

Trust the Process

Maybe you’re in a chrysalis season right now. You can’t see what God is doing. Your old identity doesn’t fit anymore, but your new one hasn’t fully emerged. You feel confused, stretched and perhaps even broken.

Don’t give up.

The Holy Spirit is working in you.

Philippians 1:6 reminds us,

โ€œHe who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesusโ€ (Philippians 1:6).

The process may be uncomfortable, but transformation rarely is painless. Stay surrendered. Stay in the Word. Stay in prayer. Keep worshipping. Keep trusting. One day, you’ll look back and realise that what felt like an ending was actually a holy beginning. You thought you were falling apart. God was putting you together differently.

You may feel like caterpillar mush today, but there are wings being formed within you that you haven’t even discovered yet.

So stay the course. The chrysalis isn’t your grave. It’s your preparation.

And when God says it’s time, you’ll emerge into the freedom, purpose and glory He has been preparing you for all along.

Believe & Confess Meditation & Declaration

I am being transformed into the image of Christ from glory to glory through the work of the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:18). God has begun a good work in me, and He will faithfully bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6). I will not return to the bondage of my past, because Christ has set me free and I will stand firm in that freedom (Galatians 5:1). Even when I cannot understand what God is doing, I trust Him with all my heart and refuse to lean on my own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). God is working all things together for my good and according to His purpose (Romans 8:28). I will run with perseverance the race God has set before me, keeping my eyes fixed on Jesus (Hebrews 12:1-2).
