The Lord’s Prayer: HEAVEN ON EARTH

We are looking at the Lord’s Prayer. This is Jesus teaching us how to pray. (Matthew 6:9-13):

“This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdomcome,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts,
    as we also have forgiven our debtors.

 And lead us not into temptation,
    but deliver us from the evil one’

“Your Kingdom Come, Your Will Be Done, on earth as it is in heaven”

We have sung, prayed and preached this phrase in public meeting after meeting, but I only just realised recently that Jesus designed this principle as a principle of the secret place, when we’ve shut the door, to pray to God in private. (Not that’s there’s anything wrong in praying it in public of course!).

Our secret intimate moments with the Father are where Heaven comes to earth in our homes, hearts, jobs, family, hopes and dreams. The secret of time alone with God, is the conduit to which secret downloads, become public breakthroughs!

You see God’s Kingdom is His rule and reign on earth. We have the opportunity to become a little bit of heaven on earth when we pray as the Lord’s Prayer teaches us.

Time and again I have enjoyed private, secret moments with God, that were largely uneventful other than whispering some prayers, reading, worshipping and writing in a journal. Over and over though, I have seen that when I am close to God, the miracles are easier, the prophecies clearer, the authority stronger.

So why not pray over areas of your life today, asking them to become expressions of heaven on earth. May sickness turn to health, sorry to joy, confusion to peace, worry to trust, debt to provision, as God’s reign invades your home!

I declare that the Kingdom of God is advancing, and His will is being done on earth as it is in heaven! The Lord reigns over all creation, and His authority is established forever (Psalm 103:19). His rule is righteous, His power is unshakable, and His glory fills the earth!

I declare that the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14). Every nation, tribe, and tongue will bow before Him, and His dominion will have no end.

Lord, let Your Kingdom come! Let Your will be done!
In my life, in my city, in my nation—just as it is in heaven!
