The Altar Of Your Longings

The Altar Of Your Longings

Matthew 5:3-10

โ€œBlessed are those WHO HUNGER AND THIRST FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS for they shall be filledโ€.

The Altar of Your Appetite

Through the pages of the Bible God has always met man at the altar of his longing and appetite. He meets us at the place of our thirsts. When man desires God, and craves God, God turns up.

In the Gospel of John Jesus said these words: โ€œLet anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.โ€ By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.โ€

John 7:37-39 NIV

We find long periods in the Bible when God seems to go quiet. Prophecies are rare. Miracles cease. Sometimes itโ€™s hundreds of years and God seems to do very little.

Then we find amazing little verses that say things like โ€œโ€ฆand man began to call on the name of the Lordโ€ and it seems that the heavens begin to rumble & stir with divine activity, as God rouses himself to โ€œcome downโ€ and move among us. Itโ€™s as though God is stirred on his throne by the worship and hunger of man and he invades our world once again.

He meets you at your point of Hunger

The journey into Godโ€™s presence and favour always begins with longing. The kingdom of our God is brought into our lives by asking, seeking, knocking, longing and desiring.

Are you hungry today? Desperate for His intervention in your life, your home, your finances, your dreams? Are you a dry wilderness, hoping for His Wonders?

Well, then youโ€™re perfectly positioned for blessing. Donโ€™t think badly of yourself because youโ€™re craving more of Him. Donโ€™t be unkind to yourself because youโ€™re frustrated, exasperated, annoyed, irritated, desperate, eager, impatient, craving โ€“ it the state of a soul God is lining up for tremendous blessing.

Turn your longings into prayers, journals, cries, worship songs, groans and sighs today. Ask that He would meet you. Itโ€™s where all revivals begin!

My soul longs for the living God! Just as the deer pants for streams of water, my heart thirsts for His presence, and I will seek Him with all that I am (Psalm 42:1-2). I hunger and thirst for righteousness, and God fills me with His abundance! (Matthew 5:6) I will not be satisfied with the things of this world, for only He can satisfy my soul.

I crave the Word of God more than my daily bread (Job 23:12). His truth nourishes me, His wisdom guides me, and His Spirit refreshes me like living water (John 7:37-38). As I draw near to God, He draws near to me! (James 4:8) He fills my dry places, renews my strength, and satisfies me with the riches of His love.

Join us for a day to seek God’s face, get lost in worship, hear His voice, receive prophetic ministry, be stirred and inspired by Jarrod Cooper’s teaching, to embrace all God is doing at the start of this new era.
