The 7 Values – the ideology of Revive Church
Strategies change. Even vision adjusts. But values stay rock solid forever.
At New Life Church we have 7 values that never change. We use these truths to build our lives around, judge every decision by, and test every cultural advance against. They are all scriptural, eternal, the word of God.
They are:
Worship – “God is spirit, and his worshippers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:24. Man was made to worship God. It’s right at the heart of our culture. Why? Because worship is so much more than singing songs – it is meeting God. Somehow in the music and prayer, we expect to feel, sense, talk and listen to God.
Word – “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 timothy 3:15-17. The truths of the Bible have been proven over millennia, as the best way to live, think, relate and build society. As such we consider it an authoritative handbook for all decisions. Opinion, fads and political correctness fade in the light of thousands of years of God’s word. If we need an answer, we start in the Bible.
Faith – “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6. Faith (how we think/what we truly, internally believe) is right at the heart of a healthy relationship with God. It’s impossible to please Him without trusting him. Faith truly brings heaven to earth. So we try to put everything through the lens of faith and trust in New Life.
Family – “All the believers were together and had everything in common… Every day they continued to meet together …. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts” Acts 2:44-46. Church is primarily a family. We care, love, laugh, cover each others imperfections and aim to be happy, healthy and at home in our church community. We try to live in circles, not rows – around meal tables, not just church services.
Power – “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk, but of power”. 1 Corinthian 4:20. Our religion can’t be just talk or good morality. God is real, alive, and loves us. So He heals, speaks, moves in power and we feel Him among us…which brings us to…
Presence – “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14. We expect God to be felt among us in our services and homes. One of God’s Names is “Emanuel” – and that means “God with us”. We fully expect His love and power to walk among us day by day.
Mission – Jesus told his disciples (In Mark 16:15+) to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptised will be saved…. And these signs will accompany those who believe: … they will place their hands on people who are sick and they will get well.’ We do this through everyday life, missions, outreaches, shows and loads of communication styles.
So there you go! Worship, word, faith, family, power, presence & mission – That’s New Life! Let’s inspire a religious revival around the region and the world, as we live out the 7 values of our community.
