Stronger On The Other Side

Stronger On The Other Side

โ€œWeโ€™ve passed through fire and flood, yet in the end You always bring us out better than we were before, saturated with Your goodness.โ€ โ€” Psalm 66:12 (TPT)

What Did the Fire Produce?

Life has a way of taking us through seasons we never expected. There are moments when we feel weary, stretched and emotionally exhausted. Perhaps you’re walking through one of those seasons right now.

There have been times in my own life when I’ve had to battle stress, fight to keep my joy and deliberately choose gratitude when everything within me wanted to complain.

Difficult seasons have taught me to appreciate things I had previously taken for granted. They’ve taught me to count my blessings, to become thankful and to discover contentment in circumstances I couldn’t control.

I can’t say I’ve succeeded every day. But I’ve discovered something through the resistance: God can make us stronger.

The trials of life can make us bitterโ€”or better.

Let the Fire Form You

Psalm 66 gives us this extraordinary picture: โ€œWeโ€™ve passed through fire and flood, yet in the end You always bring us out better than we were before, saturated with Your goodnessโ€ (Psalm 66:12 TPT).

Notice that the promise isn’t that we will avoid the fire and flood. The promise is that God will bring us through them.

There are seasons we would never choose, circumstances we would never have planned and battles we would never have volunteered to fight. Yet, when we surrender those experiences to God, He can use even adversity as a springboard into greater maturity, deeper faith and greater dependence upon Him.

James tells us, โ€œWhen it seems like you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can!โ€ (James 1:2 TPT). Why? Because testing produces endurance, and endurance develops spiritual maturity (James 1:3-4).

Keep Your Eyes on the Prize

Whatever season you are facing today, don’t allow adversity to define your future. Let it strengthen you.

Let it deepen your prayer life. Let it sharpen your gratitude. Let it make you more compassionate toward others. Let it teach you to trust God when you cannot understand Him.

You may have walked through fire, but you’re still standing. You may have passed through floodwaters, but you’re still here.

And according to Psalm 66, you are coming out better than you went inโ€”saturated with the goodness of God.

So don’t waste your wilderness. Let God turn your trials into testimony, your pain into purpose and your adversity into advancement.

Believe & Confess Meditation & Declaration

I declare that God is bringing me through every fire and flood, and He is using every trial for my good and His glory (Psalm 66:12; Romans 8:28). I choose to rejoice in difficulties because God is producing endurance, character and spiritual maturity in me (James 1:2-4). I will not allow adversity to make me bitter; by the power of the Holy Spirit, I will allow it to make me better (Romans 5:3-5). I trust that the Lord is with me even when I walk through the valley and through the fire, and I will not be afraid (Psalm 23:4; Isaiah 43:2). God is strengthening me, establishing me and making me steadfast in Christ (1 Peter 5:10). I believe that I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living, and I will wait courageously for Him (Psalm 27:13-14).

STRONGER: includes a 40 day devotional

This book is all about where we find strength. Jarrod writes that โ€œGod provides us with strength builders along our pathโ€ โ€“ some we need to pick up and use, others will simply happen to us along the way, by a kind of divine providence. But knowing these seasons of muscle building are from heaven (โ€˜cos they usually look like theyโ€™re from hell at first!) is vital to recognising Godโ€™s plan for your resilience.

Now STRONGER comes with an additional 40 day devotional taking you on a journey building attitudes and beliefs that will release divine wisdom and strength in your life. Each day presents you with a scripture, an inspirational short piece to get you thinking, followed by a prayer, action point or declaration.
