Remain In Him
Based on a word shared by our friend Roma Watermanโฆ and we thought it was such a beautiful picture, we had to share it with youโฆ
The woman at the well filled her jar with refreshing water. The reality is she would have to come back another time, or another day, and fill themโagainโand carry the weight of water home.
Because that’s what you do when you’re thirsty.
You come to the well. You fill up what you’ve got. You take it with you.
But thenโ
Eventuallyโyou run out. You come back again.
And again. And again.
It’s a heavy way to live.
I’ve been thinking about her latelyโ
That woman who met Jesus at the well. She came expecting to complete a task.
But she received an invitation.
Not just to be filledโฆ
But to stay. To abide.
To no longer live from one desperate refill to the next. But to remain close to the source. The kind of closeness where water flows when you need it. And there is no striving in that.
Maybe that’s the difference.
The old way: fill, carry, repeat.
The new way: sit, drink, remain.
And it’s not just for her.
It’s for us. For you.
“Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.โ (John 4:14)
So here’s a gentle invitation today:
Take five unhurried minutes. Sit somewhere quiet.
Close your eyes. And whisper this prayer:
โJesus, I don’t want to just carry water. I want to abide in You. Fill me again, not just for todayโbut for a life that flows with You.โ
Let the pressure fall off. Let the striving pause.
He is near. He is enough.
