Prophetic Word – THE SHAKING
On Sunday 4th October 2020 I preached a prophetic word on the following passage. I think it sums up this pivotal time:
“See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks. If they did not escape when they refused him who warned them on earth, how much less will we, if we turn away from him who warns us from heaven? At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.” HEBREWS 12:25-29
I believe many are experiencing a turmoil, a shaking, coming from many different things happening at once right now, some natural, some evil, some divine:
1) An agitation in the heavenlies (demonic realms/beings).
2) A shaking, a groaning on the earth.
3) The voice of God leading to the promise of a new era.
4) The judgements of God in the world – justice issues, the unveiling of sin.
5) A judgement (correction) of God to the Church, as He lifts us to better ways for a new era.
In the shaking and turmoil HE IS SPEAKING. Despite the turmoil HE IS SPEAKING. Not everything is from God, but God will use everything. Some of the justice issues He is bringing to the surface may be muddled by man, slightly confused or even swing towards revenge rather than justice – but we need to listen to God speaking through these events! Many things are happening at once!
So, let’s not “refuse” His voice.
Where is God leading us?
The writer to the Hebrews is quoting Haggai 2 here, but in Haggai’s version it goes on to say “I will shake the heavens and the earth, AND I WILL FILL THIS HOUSE WITH GLORY” – That is the end game, God’s ultimate purpose in difficult seasons like this.
What can we do to get through this season?
When Noah went through a similar season, he was saved, not by the Ark, but by His righteous walk with God. The result was he went through the agitating season of turmoil safely, into a bright new day of promise.
When the children of Israel went through the turmoil of the confrontation between Moses and Pharaoh, 10 plagues, and a period when things got worse, not better, at Passover they were to HIDE UNDER THE BLOOD till the judgement had passed. Then God led them into a powerful season of glory, purpose and promise. We must do the same.
When the disciples went through the turmoil and shaking of the death and resurrection of Jesus, they HID IN PRAYER, waiting for the promised power of the Holy Spirit – When He came, they were launched from lockdown into a season of promise and glory. We should expect the same.
This pivotal season of shaking has biblical and historical precedent. Let’s HIDE under the blood. Let’s dwell in the secret place of our walk with God. Let’s wait for the release into this new era in God. Let’s listen intently for the voice of God comforting us and correcting us – Yes, He will do both like a loving Father!
But stay in Hope! – Let’s expect shaking and lockdown to lead to glory, harvest, revival, fulfilment and the Kingdom coming in the world!
