Many Parts, One Glory!

Many Parts, One Glory!

โ€œIn the human body there are many parts and organs, each with a unique function. And so it is in the body of Christ. For though we are many, weโ€™ve all been mingled into one body in Christ. This means that we are all vitally joined to one another, with each contributing to the others.โ€

Romans 12:4โ€“5 (TPT)

Many Parts, One Glory

The body of Christ is a breathtaking tapestry of unique peopleโ€”each carrying different gifts, perspectives, priorities, and callings. When we truly see one another through Godโ€™s eyes, we begin to recognise something holy: we donโ€™t just work alongside each other, we reveal Jesus to each other.

Yet one of the greatest threats to this beauty is comparison. Scripture warns us that coveting is not a small issueโ€”it sits among the Ten Commandments as a serious matter of the heart (Exodus 20:17). From the very beginning, envy was powerful enough to spark tragedy; Cainโ€™s jealousy toward Abel became the seedbed of the first murder in history (Genesis 4:3โ€“8). In our Insta-soaked world, comparison feels normal, but in Godโ€™s economy it is a destiny killer.

Recently, I sensed God speak to me about learning to โ€œstay in my lane.โ€ He said, โ€œMove like a bishop,โ€ and instantly my mind went to the chessboard. Pawns move slowly and steadily. Castles move straight and strong. Knights move unexpectedly. Bishops move diagonally, but only on one colour. Each piece has limitationsโ€”but those limitations are also their power. The bishopโ€™s restriction is the very thing that makes it effective. And suddenly I realised: focus is not a prison, itโ€™s freedom. I donโ€™t have to do everything, be everything, or please everyone. I just have to move the way God designed me to move.

Different Moves, One Purpose

As Iโ€™ve observed life and church, Iโ€™ve noticed different kinds of peopleโ€”each carrying a distinct grace, or a mix of a couple of strengths. Which at you?

Some move in paper. They handle administration, systems, finances, and legal structures. Without them, vision collapses into chaos.

Some move in people. They pastor, counsel, visit homes, and create belonging. They heal loneliness and build family.

Some move in principles. They teach, train, correct thinking, and bring plumb lines of truth. They shape minds and anchor culture.

Some move in prophecy and presence. They cultivate worship, prayer, and spiritual clarity. They create moments where heaven touches earth.

Some move in projects. They pioneer, innovate, build, and dream new realities into existence. They push the Kingdom forward.

Each of these is a move of God. None is superior. All are essential. Together, they form a healthy, vibrant, powerful body. Isolated, something feels โ€œoff.โ€ Connected, everything comes alive.

The Joy of Your Lane

My encouragement today is simple but profound: know your lane. Enjoy your lane. Fill it with the colours of the gifts God has placed within you. And surround yourself with people who move differently from you. When you do, life becomes richer, the Church becomes stronger, and Jesus becomes clearer through us all.

You were never designed to be a copy. We were designed to be a collective.

Believe & Confess Meditation & Declaration

I am fearfully and wonderfully made for Godโ€™s purpose (Psalm 139:14). I am a vital part of the body of Christ, uniquely designed to serve others (Romans 12:4โ€“5). I refuse comparison and embrace the calling God has given me (Galatians 6:4). I walk confidently in the works God prepared for me (Ephesians 2:10). I honour the gifts in others and celebrate our differences in Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12โ€“27). I stay focused on my lane and run my race with endurance and joy (Hebrews 12:1).
