Fire Is The Strategy

Fire Is The Strategy

โ€œIn your presence they will still overflow and be anointed. Even in their old age they will stay fresh, bearing luscious fruit and abiding faithfully.โ€

Psalms 92:14 (TPT)

Still Fresh, Still Fruitful

Revival has never been the exclusive property of one generation. Throughout history, God has poured His fire on two kinds of people in particular: the young who burn with vision and holy impatience, and the old who carry depth, discernment, and unshakeable faith.

The young often move first. Their hearts are not yet dulled by disappointment or weighed down by the worries of life. Evan Roberts was in his mid-twenties when the Welsh Revival ignited a nation, filling chapels with the presence of God and the sound of beautiful Welsh praise. Young revivalists like Charles Finney in his twenties, William Booth in his early ministry years, and modern student movements across schools and universities have shown us again and again that God delights in youthful hunger.

If you are a child, a teenager, or in your twenties, donโ€™t wait. Revival has often ridden into the land on the shoulders of young people who refused to be passive. Before mortgages, responsibilities, and routines try to quiet your fire, run hard after God. Seek His presence. Cry out for His glory. History is often written by young hearts that refused to cool down.

One More Mountain

But revival is not only born in youthful passion. It is also birthed in the prayers of the older generationโ€”those who have walked with God for decades, who have seen miracles, endured trials, and learned the plumbline of His Word.

In the Hebridean Revival, elderly saints prayed in humble cottages, crying out, โ€œDonโ€™t make a fool of us, Godโ€”you promised!โ€ Their bodies were tired, but their spirits were fierce. Like Caleb, they prayed, โ€œGive me this mountainโ€ (Joshua 14:12). They were living proof of the promise that the righteous โ€œwill still bear fruit in old ageโ€ (Psalm 92:14).

They were no longer driven by five-year plans or personal ambition. They wanted one thing: one more victory for the Kingdom, one more generation touched, one more mark of Godโ€™s glory on the earth. And indeed His glory swept those Islands and we recount the extraordinary stories today.

Perhaps you are in that later season of life. Your idealistic years are way behind you. The middle years of careers, parenting, and responsibilities may come and gone too. Now comes a sacred question: how will you use the years ahead? Will you become a storyteller of miracles or a collector of complaints? Will you be a matriarch or patriarch of prayer, or a spectator of decline?

Scripture says, โ€œOne generation will commend your works to anotherโ€ (Psalm 145:4). The world desperately needs spiritual โ€œsilver surfersโ€โ€”men and women who are still curious, still courageous, still willing to ride the waves of Godโ€™s Spirit toward the horizon of His purposes.

A Cloud of Witnesses

In the unseen realm, a great cloud of witnesses is cheering us on (Hebrews 12:1). Their message is clear: do not waste your life on shallow things. Do not surrender to bitterness, grief, or cynicism. Be like Caleb and Joshua. Fight one more time. Believe one more promise. Pray one more dangerous prayer.

Whether young or old, the call is the same: stay fresh, stay faithful, stay fruitful. In His presence, you are not fadingโ€”you are flourishing.

Believe & Confess Meditation & Declaration

I am planted in the house of the Lord and I flourish in His courts (Psalm 92:13). Even in old age I bear fruit and remain fresh and green (Psalm 92:14). The glory of the Lord is rising upon me and His Spirit is renewing my strength (Isaiah 60:1; Isaiah 40:31). I press on to take hold of all that Christ has called me to (Philippians 3:12). I proclaim Godโ€™s works to the next generation with boldness and joy (Psalm 145:4). I receive courage to take one more mountain for His Kingdom (Joshua 14:12).

When Spirit & Word Collide

In this book, Jarrod begins to challenge, inspire and provoke us about how Spirit and Word can come together as never before. How lives can be built on both power and principle โ€“ how churches can embrace both glory and good organisation โ€“ and how the dynamics of the prophetic can be more greatly embraced, and yet the Church can also grow in discipleship and influence.
