Living At A Pivot Point

Living At A Pivot Point

You are alive at one of those rare turning points in history. Scripture shows us that God often marks time in extraordinary ways. If we trace the story of the Bible, we see a striking rhythm: about every five centuries, God unveils something pivotal. From Noah to Abraham, from Moses to David, and from the Exile to the coming of Christโ€”each moment shifted the direction of Godโ€™s people and revealed His purposes in new ways.

The greatest pivot, of course, is Jesus Himself. His birth, death, and resurrection divide history into B.C. and A.D. He brought the shift from the Old Covenant to the New, from Law to Grace, and from striving in the flesh to living in the power of the Spirit. The cross stands as the central hinge of all human history.

But Godโ€™s turning points did not end with the New Testament. Just as Romeโ€™s empire created the roads for the Gospel to travel, history kept moving in 500-year intervals. The fall of Rome in A.D. 476 began the long Dark Ages. Five centuries later, the Church fractured in the Great Schism. Another 500 years passed, and Martin Lutherโ€™s Reformation reshaped the Church and its witness. At each pivot, God was at workโ€”even through turmoil and change.

Today, we again stand at the threshold of a new age. The rapid shifts in culture, technology, and global connections remind us that God may be preparing another great unveiling. Rather than fear, we can live with expectancy. God has always used turning points to call His people back to Himself, to purify His Church, and to advance His Kingdom.

Reflection: History is not random. It is in Godโ€™s hands. The question is not whether He is moving, but how we will respond.

Recommendation: Meditate on Acts 1:8 and consider how God is calling you to be His witness in this generation.
Next step: Pray daily for discernment to see where God is pivoting your life and how He wants to use you in His unfolding story.

500 years after the dawn of the Reformation, Jarrod Cooper asks if we are entering a new Church Age? It would seem, from a study of Biblical and Church history, that every 500 years some great adjustment and development of Godโ€™s workings on earth takes place. If this is true then that means we are a generation destined to walk with God at another pivotal turning point in history.

Filled with prophecy, thought provoking teaching, a passion for revival and a longing to understand the masterplan of the Father, โ€œ500โ€ will take you on a journey of discovery that will help you understand your place in history, and helps us all ask the question: โ€œWhat must we do next?
