Isolate Insecurity Before It Isolates You
โLook with wonder at the depth of the Fatherโs marvellous love that he has lavished on us! He has called us and made us his very own beloved children.โ โ 1 John 3:1 TPT
Who Does God Say You Are?
God has called us to live in the freedom Jesus has purchased for us. Salvation can happen in a moment, but learning to walk in that freedom is a journey. God has given us everything we need through His Word and the power of the Holy Spirit, but we must learn to receive, believe and walk in what He has provided.
One of the things we need to deal with if we are going to live in that freedom is insecurity.
Author, Paul de Jong uses a powerful phrase: โIsolate insecurity before it isolates you.โ
Having insecurities is neither rare or new. It can manifest itself through low or inflated self-esteem, jealousy, envy, how we look or dress, self doubt, under confidence to name a few. But itโs how we deal with them that really matters.
Insecurity is an extremely subtle brand of fear and a hidden weapon that the enemy uses in our internal world to bind, limit and stifle our ability to thrive in our God-given destiny.
So, to limit insecurity in our lives itโs important to get Godโs perspective and see ourselves through His eyes. Receive His identity, not one that we or other people label us with, but build a renewed mind, heart and soul that identifies and agrees with how God sees us.
Whose Voice Are You Listening To?
God told Jeremiah:
โI knew you before I formed you in your motherโs womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you.โ โ Jeremiah 1:5 NLT
And Peter reminds us:
โYou are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, Godโs special possession.โ โ 1 Peter 2:9 NIV
Notice the language: chosen, royal, holy, special.
That is God’s perspective!
Then John takes it even deeper:
โSee what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!โ 1 John 3:1 NIV
You don’t have to spend your life trying to earn an identity that God has already given you.
Renew Your Mind
The way we overcome insecurity is not simply by telling ourselves to โbe more confidentโ. We overcome it by renewing our minds with God’s truth.
What does God say about you?
Read it. Meditate on it. Speak it. Believe it. Receive it.
Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. The more God’s Word gets into us, the more His perspective begins to replace the labels we have carried.
You are not who insecurity says you are. You are who God says you are.
So isolate insecurity before it isolates you. Don’t allow fear to define your future. Let the Word define your identity, and let the Holy Spirit teach you to see yourself through the Father’s eyes.
Believe & Confess Meditation & Declaration
I declare that I am chosen, royal, holy and God’s special possession [1 Peter 2:9]. I declare that I am a beloved child of God [1 John 3:1]. I declare that God knew me, set me apart and has purpose for my life [Jeremiah 1:5]. I declare that I am being transformed as my mind is renewed by God’s truth [Romans 12:2]. I declare that I have not received a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind [2 Timothy 1:7]. I declare that I will agree with what God says about me rather than being controlled by insecurity, comparison or the opinions of others [Galatians 1:10].
