Immersed in God’s Purposes
Mourning comes before dancing
I grew up as a missionary kid in southern Europe, living in the sun, playing on boats, beaches and โoff-roadingโ around Spain and Morocco. It was great. But when God called my parents, we didnโt know it would be great. They had to immerse themselves (and us kids!) in obedience BEFORE they knew it would be great!
You see, my earliest memory of this part of my life, is not the fun of living abroad, but the shock of having to sell all my toys! My dad gave up his good job, my parents sold their house, we put everything we owned in a Citroen 2CV6 and drove from Wales homeless and jobless! All I really remember is my mother sobbing as we drove away from everything theyโd tried to build up to that point. We had no idea it would go well โ you are only aware of what you are losing. It was a death. An immersion. A baptism of suffering.
But that is where the Gospel becomes most powerful. When you TOTALLY surrender to God โ He totally opens heavens resources to you! At the time you donโt know it, but you just found one of the โWaysโ of God, and now you are going to continually find His favour!
There are loads of wonderful terms in the bible for Christians. Sons, heirs, children, sheep, army, athletes. But in Philemon Paul uses this description to sum up his immersion in Godโs plan for his life:
โI Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christโ
Paul was actually a prisoner of Nero at the time of writing this, but he never saw it as that. He was a prisoner, a slave, a servant of God โ in chains for the Gospel. Could you describe yourself in the same way? Could you say โIโm locked into Godโs will, whatever and where ever that might be!โ?
Decide to be Godโs Prisoner today. The pain can be real, but the rewards are EPIC & ETERNAL!

I surrender my life completely to Jesus! I lay down my will, my plans, and my desires, and I take up my cross daily to follow Him (Luke 9:23). I submit every area of my lifeโmy thoughts, my emotions, my actionsโto His Lordship. I offer my body as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, as an act of true worship (Romans 12:1).
I will trust in the Lord with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding. In all my ways, I acknowledge Him, and He directs my paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). I will no longer live for myself, but for Christ who gave Himself for me (Galatians 2:20).
I declare that Jesus is my Lord, my King, and my everything! I surrender all, and in Him, I find true freedom, peace, and joy. Not my will, but Yours be done, Lord!
