Fear Not!

Fear Not!

โ€œDo not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.โ€ โ€” Isaiah 41:10

โ€œFear not.โ€ โ€œDo not be afraid.โ€ โ€œDo not fear.โ€

These words appear again and again throughout Scripture. Some people have even pointed out that there are enough โ€œfear notโ€ passages to remind us every day of the year.

Whether or not you count them that way, the message is unmistakable:

God does not want fear ruling your life, and we need this reminder more than ever.

Turn on the news, scroll through social media or listen to the conversations around you, and it doesn’t take long to encounter fear. Headlines often seem to shout about everything that could go wrong, while good news gets buried somewhere in the small print.

Fear is powerful because it can make tomorrow’s possibilities feel like today’s reality. But believer, you don’t have to live under the tyranny of โ€œwhat if?โ€

Look at Who is With You

God’s answer to fear isn’t simply, โ€œTry harder not to be frightened.โ€

His answer is His presence.

โ€œDo not fear, for I am with youโ€ (Isaiah 41:10).

Did you catch that? God doesn’t promise that you will never walk through difficult circumstances. He promises something better:

โ€œI am with you.โ€

David understood this. He wrote,

โ€œEven when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staffโ€”they comfort meโ€ (Psalm 23:4).

Notice David didn’t say if I walk through the valley. He said when. Faith doesn’t mean pretending there is no valley. Faith means knowing that you are never walking through it alone.

Faith Over Fear

Fear asks, โ€œWhat if everything goes wrong?โ€
Faith asks, โ€œWhat has God said?โ€

Fear magnifies the size of the problem.
Faith magnifies the greatness of God.

Fear tells you to retreat.
Faith tells you to keep moving forward with your eyes fixed on Jesus.

The apostle John reminds us,

โ€œYou are from God, little children, and you have conquered them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the worldโ€ (1 John 4:4).

Greater is He who is in you.

Not eventually. Not when everything improves. Now.

The Holy Spirit lives within you. You are not facing life in your own strength.

God Will Hold You

I love how Isaiah’s promise continues:

โ€œI will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right handโ€ (Isaiah 41:10).

What a promise! When you don’t feel strong enough, He will strengthen you.
When you don’t know what to do, He will help you.
When you feel like you’re slipping, He will hold you.

This is not wishful thinking. This is the promise of Almighty God. So whatever you are facing today, don’t allow fear to occupy the throne of your heart.

You may have questions, but you can still have faith.
You may have uncertainty, but you can still have peace.
You may not know what tomorrow holds, but you know who holds tomorrow.

Paul tells us that

โ€œwe walk by faith, not by sightโ€ (2 Corinthians 5:7).

So lift your eyes. Turn down the volume of fear and turn up the voice of God’s Word.
God is with you. God is for you. God will strengthen you. God will help you. God will hold you.

Therefore, do not fear.

Believe & Confess Meditation & Declaration

I will not fear, because God is with me; He is my God, He strengthens me, helps me and holds me securely (Isaiah 41:10). I fear no evil even when I walk through the darkest valley, because the Lord is with me (Psalm 23:4). I have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). The One who lives in me is greater than the one who is in the world (1 John 4:4). I walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). I cast my anxieties upon God because He cares for me (1 Peter 5:7).
