Don’t Let Go Until The Blessing Comes

Don’t Let Go Until The Blessing Comes

“So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. Then the man said, ‘Let me go, for it is daybreak.’ But Jacob replied, ‘I will not let you go unless you bless me.’”

Genesis‬ ‭32‬:‭24‬, ‭26‬ ‭NIVUK‬‬

Jacob’s story teaches us one of the most powerful lessons of faith: don’t quit before the blessing comes.

All night long Jacob wrestled, bruised, exhausted, and overwhelmed. Yet, instead of giving up, he clung tighter. He refused to release his grip until the struggle produced something good. And out of that wrestling came his transformation—his name was changed, his future redirected, his destiny secured.

So often, when we’re in the middle of pain, disappointment, or struggle, the easiest thing to do is quit. But quitting is the worst choice, because you walk away wounded but never blessed. You’ve carried the weight of the trial but missed the treasure hidden within it.

God is good, and everything He does is good. His purposes for you are good, His ways are good, and His timing is perfect. If what you’re going through hasn’t yet turned for good, then your story isn’t finished. Keep going until His goodness shines through.

In the valley of the shadow of death—keep walking—because goodness and mercy are following you and will soon overtake you (Psalm 23). In the lions’ den—keep trusting—because promotion is coming (Daniel 6). In the pit or the prison like Joseph—stay faithful, live with integrity—because God is working all things together for good (Genesis 50:20).

Your pain is not wasted. Every tear is counted. Every wrestle has purpose. If you’re wrestling with God in the dark, don’t let go until He blesses you. The struggle may leave a limp, but it will also mark you with destiny.

Today, hold on. Refuse to quit. Refuse to walk away empty-handed. Trust that the God who began a good work in you will carry it through to completion.

Prayer: Lord, in my struggle, give me the strength to hold on until Your blessing comes. I trust that You are good, and that You are working all things for my good. I will not quit—I will cling to You until You turn this into victory. Amen.

Today, I declare that like Jacob, I will hold tightly to God in this season (Genesis 32:24). Even in the struggle, even in the silence, even in the long night, I will not let go of the One who holds my future.

When the pressure rises and the battle intensifies, I will stand firm.
I echo Jacob’s cry: “I will not let You go unless You bless me” (Genesis 32:26). I cling to God’s promises, His presence, and His faithfulness. The wrestling is not my defeat—it is the place where I am transformed.

STRONGER: includes a 40 day devotional

This book is all about where we find strength. Jarrod writes that “God provides us with strength builders along our path” – some we need to pick up and use, others will simply happen to us along the way, by a kind of divine providence. But knowing these seasons of muscle building are from heaven (‘cos they usually look like they’re from hell at first!) is vital to recognising God’s plan for your resilience.

Now STRONGER comes with an additional 40 day devotional taking you on a journey building attitudes and beliefs that will release divine wisdom and strength in your life. Each day presents you with a scripture, an inspirational short piece to get you thinking, followed by a prayer, action point or declaration.
