Your Comeback!

“But the hair on his head began to grow again after it had been shaved.”
Judges 16:22 (NIVUK)

I love this little verse tucked away in the Samson story. It almost whispers hope into a moment soaked in failure. Samson has hit rock bottom—deceived, defeated, and disempowered. He gave away the secret of his strength, surrendered to his weakness, and woke up blind, bound, and mocked by his enemies. If there were ever a scene that screamed, “It’s over,” this was it.

But heaven wasn’t finished. “The hair on his head began to grow again…” Strength was returning. Grace was moving. Restoration had already begun, quietly, beneath the surface.

Sometimes we are tempted to call “game over” long before God does. We mess up—spectacularly at times. We yield to weakness, fall into sin, make foolish choices, or simply lose our way. And then the shame, the regret, and the grief for what might have been push us into hiding. We shrink from our calling, our community, and even from God Himself. We finally realise we truly don’t deserve anything good from God—ironically, the very moment we need His goodness the most.

But that’s the point of grace.

The Bible is a story not of flawless heroes, but of flawed vessels restored by relentless mercy. David commits adultery and murder—yet remains king. God still calls Jesus the “Son of David,” as if to say, “Your worst chapter doesn’t disqualify My purpose.” Moses tries to rescue Israel in his own strength, fails miserably, and flees into obscurity—yet God calls him back and uses him to lead a nation. Abraham loses patience with the promise, produces an Ishmael through human striving—yet still becomes the father of faith.

Their stories remind us: your journey won’t be perfect, but God’s purpose is still intact.

Failure doesn’t finish you. Grace does.

Every time you fall, heaven invites you to rise. Every time you feel disqualified, God whispers, “I’m not done yet.” The enemy may say it’s over, your emotions may insist it’s over, and people may assume it’s over. But if God hasn’t closed the book, you’re still in the story.

Samson’s hair grew again—slowly, silently, steadily. And so will your strength. Your anointing. Your confidence. Your hope.

You don’t need to feel it growing. You just need to keep going.

It’s not how many times you fall that defines you—it’s that you get up one more time than you fall. Grace will lift you. Purpose will call you. And God will finish what He started.

Your comeback has already begun.

Even when I fail, God’s grace lifts me up. My mistakes do not disqualify me, and my weakness does not surprise Him. “Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again” (Proverbs 24:16). I trust in the mercy of God that meets me where I am and carries me forward. “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). Where I fall short, His strength overflows.

I refuse shame and condemnation, for I am covered by the grace of Christ. “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). God’s grace restores, realigns, and renews me. Today, I rise again—not by my own perfection, but by His unfailing love.
