Watch Me Move!

“The priests then withdrew from the Holy Place… Then the temple of the Lord was filled with the cloud, and the priests could not perform their service because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the temple of God.”

WHEN THE GLORY TAKES OVER

We are living in a time when God is not just doing new things—He is doing them in new ways. They might not be new in the vastness of His eternal wisdom, but they are certainly new to us. Our past experience simply hasn’t prepared us for the scale, the weight, or the brilliance of what He is unfolding now.

Many of us have grown wonderfully accustomed to trusting God in the familiar rhythm of partnership. We listen for His voice, discern His leading, get to work, and steward His instructions. For thirty-five years that has been my main mode of ministry—hear, obey, work, and watch God bless thousands. It is beautiful. It is biblical. It is fruitful.

But there are moments in God’s great symphony where the method suddenly changes. The divine conductor lifts His hand and signals not for action, but for holy stillness. It’s the invitation to withdraw. To step back. To let God be God.

The Rising Waters of Glory

There are seasons when the water levels of His glory seem lower—when fervent prayer, fasting, and persistent obedience feel like the only things keeping the river moving. But then comes a rising. A swelling. A saturation of heaven. The tide lifts. The clouds thicken. The rain of His presence begins to fall.

I’ve known these glory-seasons before. And in those times, I’ve learned that partnering with God is only half the story. There is also an art—rare, humbling, powerful—of withdrawing. Stepping aside so He can do what only He can do.

In 2 Chronicles 5, the priests sensed something holy was about to happen. So they withdrew. They stepped back. They made space. And then the glory came—so weighty, so overwhelming—that they couldn’t continue their rituals even if they tried. Human effort was gently, gloriously displaced by divine presence.

The Holy Moment of Stepping Back

There is a moment in every challenge where you’ve done all you know to do. You’ve prayed every prayer, obeyed every whisper, forgiven every wound, aligned every attitude—and then comes the whisper of heaven:

“Step back now. I’ve got this one.”

We are in such a moment. A dear friend at Revive recently heard the Lord thunder this phrase into her spirit:

“NOW WATCH ME MOVE!”

And God has been saying the same to me:
“You’ve seen what you can do for Me. Now watch what I can do Myself.”

When the glory comes, everything changes. Miracles cease being wrestled for and begin to simply appear. I’ve seen addicts collapse under God’s presence and get up completely free—no altar call, no hands laid, no fanfare… just glory.

I’ll never forget a service where His glory was so strong most people lay flat on the floor for nine hours. One woman began loudly offering… let’s just say “unhelpful” prayers. I whispered, “Lord, I don’t want to intervene—would You?” Immediately her false teeth fell out and she sat down, silent! When the glory comes, God takes over.

The Cloud Is Forming Again

This is a season to withdraw. To step back. To stop striving. To let the cloud fill the temple again.

God is in the arena whispering:
“Now watch Me move.”

Today I declare that God goes before me and fights for me (Exodus 14:14), that His presence surrounds me like a cloud of glory (2 Chronicles 5:13–14), that He perfects all that concerns me (Psalm 138:8), that His power is made perfect in my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9), that He finishes every good work He begins in me (Philippians 1:6), and that He is doing exceedingly abundantly above all I ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
