There’s a Changing of the Guard

There’s a Changing of the Guard

Right now we are experiencing a massive fundamental shift in God’s purposes, on a scale equivalent to the history shaping arrival of certain great kings and prophets (Think of Noah, Moses, David) and tide-turning momentous changes in nations (The Exile, Roman occupation, the fall of Rome, the Reformation).

My book “500” showed that every one of these key shifts has happened at approximately 500-year intervals, and (the exciting news here…) you are alive 500 years after the Reformation, where the very core of politicised Christianity was shaken until it glowed with faith and power again!

At such seismic moments in history, there is usually a changing of the guard, as new “early-adopter” leaders replace the old, who are promoted and now watch amongst the great cloud of witnesses (Hebrews 12).

Promoted to Glory

From the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II, to the loss of spiritual fathers like Billy Graham, Reinhard Bonnke, Oral Roberts and Colin Urquhart, there is a leadership shift taking place right now. You may not even recognise these names, but these figures, and many others besides, have shaped the Church you enjoy today for good –

– but the leadership of God’s Church is now shifting radically.

Every time we lose a spiritual father or mother, who has long served the church with faithfulness, passion and purpose, we lose something familiar and trusted. They were liked pillars around us.

That makes a Changing of the Guard a slightly scary time.

But we need to remember that these changes are inevitable, godly, biblical and can lead to great advancement. We need to be thankful for all that these reformers, pioneers and pillar-people have brought to us, but we also need to recognise another thing:

New Apostolic and Prophetic Voices are Arising in the Earth!

There is arising in this time new apostolic and prophetic voices, coming with fresh ideas, models and new ways of building biblical communities in the earth. Innovation is exploding out of wilderness wells, frustration and passionate longing for God’s Kingdom to come!

Desert prophets are stirring us to long for new Promised Lands again. Our now, slightly dated models, and our fizzling fire simply isn’t enough. We must keep changing and moving forward to see the long-prophesied waves of global harvest and transformation.

But the new faces and younger leaders have yet to earn our trust. They, by their very nature, sound new, are less experienced, and no doubt some of them will fail at times. This presents us with a dilemma: Our grief wants all the old ways and old faces back, but God’s glory is calling us forward!

Recognise in this time of adjustment:

  • Many leadership changes, successions and transitions are taking place.
  • Many are finding new tribes to join for the new era.
  • Loneliness and disconnectedness is sometimes God calling you to a new family
  • Time for new alignments!
  • Many are shifting churches, ministries, towns, even countries.

Don’t fear the transitions of tribe, friendship group, geography or leadership. Remember “He has no plans to harm you” (Jeremiah 29:11) – God is just rearranging his chess board people to new places, for greater purpose, greater joy, greater KINGDOM COME!

God is shifting seasons and raising up a new standard! I declare that I will not resist His movement but will embrace the transition with boldness and trust. I release the old and step into the new, knowing that He orders my steps (Psalm 37:23).

The Lord is replacing fear with courage, weakness with strength, and uncertainty with clarity. He is refining His warriors, preparing them for greater works, and positioning them for victory (Joshua 1:9). I declare that I am ready for this shift! I take my place in the kingdom, fully surrendered to God’s plan, walking in faith, authority, and obedience.

    Thanks Jarrod

This has helped me more than you would ever know.

We have put our house on the market this week (we only moved here in December 2023)

When people ask where we are moving to, I just have to say God knows.

God really does know, doesn\’t he?

We are in a really great church (a bit like Audacious! but with Zero Pastoral support of any kind and we only have around 150 people.)

I am a very old fashioned pastor (I was the youngest Sally Army Officer in the country when I was 18) and I know you need to go and see people in their home to find out what is REALLY going on………….

Its not a popular \’idea\’ it would seem.

These days, we want to worship (sing songs while we jump up & down, but not much time for quiet reflection) and pray and somehow expect people to \’share for prayer\’ that the husband has cancer and the business may be failing (or not, with some Godly direction)

Our Pastors would be aghast if they knew we are praying about leaving……BUT

in the 4 years we have known them, guess how many times they have called at our home, 5 minutes from church?

Zero. They are lovely people and the Pastors wife got an MBE for her community work last year, but still…..

We are going to see our friends at the Ark Fellowship in Fuengirola on the 28th April and we know we can always get prayer and crying seems better in the sunshine! Ha! Ha!

Although, 10 baptisms in the sea are worth the journey.

    God bless your day.

We hope to make it for your next event at Let Loose.

Amen shifting it is. I tried to open doors that God firmly shut last year. So it is to the new I give myself.
