The Secret of True Success
โIn everything he did he had great success, because the Lord was with him.โ โ 1 Samuel 18:14 (NIV)
What made David successful? Was it his courage, leadership, or skill with a sling? While those things played a part, Scripture is clear: the true source of his success was thisโthe Lord was with him.
In a world that constantly measures success by achievements, status, or possessions, God gives us a different blueprint. Davidโs victories werenโt just the result of talent or training. They were the fruit of a life lived close to God. His strength came from Godโs presence. His courage was fuelled by Godโs promises. His favour was born from Godโs faithfulness.
The same is true for us. Yes, we should develop our gifts, make wise decisions, and live with integrity. But ultimately, itโs not our effort that secures lasting successโitโs God with us. His presence is the difference-maker. His favour opens doors no one can shut. His grace carries us when strength runs out.
There will be days when even your best isnโt enoughโwhen your plans fall short, your strength fades, or your friends canโt fix whatโs broken. Thatโs when the truth of this verse shines brightest: if God is with you, you are never without hope.
So pursue Godโs presence above all. Make friendship with Him your first aim. And as you walk closely with Him, youโll find that true success doesnโt need to be chasedโit will follow you, like a moth to a flame.
Prayer: Lord, more than success, I want You. Be with me today in every decision, every challenge, and every step. Let my life reflect the strength and peace that come only from Your presence. Amen.

God is my refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). I will not fear, for the Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace (Psalm 29:11).
His presence goes with me and gives me rest (Exodus 33:14), and He keeps in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in Him (Isaiah 26:3). I am strong in the Lord and in His mighty power (Ephesians 6:10), my life will reflect His unshakable peace to the world around me (Matthew 5:16).
