The Next Man

“The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.”
1 Samuel 10:6 (NIVUK)

There is a moment in every believer’s journey when heaven draws close, breathes, and everything changes. Saul had one of those moments. He walked into the company of worshippers—prophets carrying instruments, melody, and the tangible atmosphere of God—and Scripture says “the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon him… and he was changed into a different person.”

What an astonishing picture of worship! A group of people, instruments in hand, the sound of praise swirling in the air—much like a modern charismatic worship service. There’s music. There’s singing. There’s a prophetic flow. There’s the sense that anything could happen in the next five minutes. The same Spirit that rested upon those worshippers hit Saul—and the insecure farm boy became the anointed king. That’s the power of proximity.

Jesus Himself taught us this kingdom mystery: “Where two or three gather in my name, I am there.” Yes, God is with you personally, individually, intimately. But there is an intensified manifestation of Christ’s power when believers gather. It doesn’t take many—just a few hearts aligned in worship can open a portal of transformation.

Heaven moves when we gather.
Destinies shift when we gather.
People are healed, filled, strengthened, when we gather.

This principle works in reverse too. “Bad company corrupts good character.” Stay around the wrong voices long enough, and you’ll become a distorted version of yourself. But surround yourself with Spirit-filled worshippers, prophetic dreamers, wise and godly people—and you increase your likelihood of encountering the Most High Himself.

That’s why we need church.
That’s why we need small groups.
That’s why we sing, worship, lift our hands, open our hearts.
Gathered worship isn’t a ritual—it’s a transformation sacrament.

The phrase “the Spirit will come powerfully upon you” can be translated:
“The mind of God will rush upon you.”
“The thoughts of God will overwhelm and overturn you.”

Who doesn’t need that?
I need God’s thoughts to overturn mine regularly!
I need His mind to interrupt my mindset.
I need His perspective to overpower my limitations.

And then comes the promise:
“You will be changed into a different person.”
Literally: “You will be turned into the next man.”

Oh, how powerful that is.

Do you need to become more than you currently are for the next chapter of your life?
Do you need to grow in courage, in compassion, in boldness, in wisdom?
Do you need a fresh mantle, a fresh fire, a fresh identity?

Then get among God’s presence people.
Sing with the Spirit-filled singers.
Stand with the prophetic company.
Place yourself in the atmosphere where heaven rushes in.

Because the same Spirit who changed Saul is ready to shape the next version of you—
the next man, the next woman, the next leader, the next dreamer.

Step into His presence.
Step into community.
Step into worship.

And watch God turn you into THE NEXT MAN.

I welcome holy influence that stirs my faith and calls me higher. I declare that as iron sharpens iron, my life is refined through godly relationships (Proverbs 27:17). Together, we reflect the character of Christ and grow into maturity.
