The Heart Of True Worship

The Heart Of True Worship

โ€œBut seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.โ€ โ€” Matthew 6:33

I donโ€™t know about you, but during the season of lockdown, one of the things I missed most was worshipping together with the church familyโ€”lifting our voices under one roof, sensing the presence of God together, and declaring His greatness in unity. Thereโ€™s something powerful about gathered worship. Scripture says, โ€œGod inhabits the praises of His peopleโ€ (Psalm 22:3). Yet in the midst of closed church buildings and online services, the Holy Spirit began reminding many of us of something deeper: worship was never meant to be confined to a building or limited to a song list.

True worship is a lifestyle.

Jesus said, โ€œBut seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to youโ€ (Matthew 6:33). The Passion Translation beautifully phrases it: โ€œSo above all, constantly chase after the realm of Godโ€™s kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantlyโ€ (Matthew 6:33 TPT).

Worship is not simply singing in church on a Sunday. Worship is putting God first every single day. It is choosing His presence over distraction, His voice over the noise of the world, and His will over our own desires. Worship is when our hearts say, โ€œJesus, You are worthy of all of me.โ€

Romans 12:1 says, โ€œPresent your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service of worship.โ€ Worship is surrender. It is giving God our body, soul, mind, and spirit. It is loving Him not only with our songs but with our obedience, our priorities, our time, and our affection.

What comes first in your life today? Work? Family? Ambition? Comfort? Even good things become dangerous things when they take the place that only God deserves.

The beautiful promise of Jesus is that when we put Him first, everything else comes into proper alignment. When we seek Him above all else, He provides, leads, blesses, strengthens, and pours out peace that surpasses understanding. God is not looking for occasional praise; He is looking for wholehearted worshippers. Jesus said, โ€œThe true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truthโ€ (John 4:23).

So today, make room for Him again.

Before the emails. Before the meetings. Before the distractions.

Put God first.

Believe & Confess Meditation & Declaration

I declare that I will seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness above all else in my life (Matthew 6:33). My life is a living sacrifice of worship unto the Lordโ€”body, soul, mind, and spirit (Romans 12:1). I will worship the Father in spirit and in truth with wholehearted devotion (John 4:23). As I delight myself in the Lord, He directs my steps and fulfills His purposes for my life (Psalm 37:4-5). Godโ€™s presence is my priority, and in His presence there is fullness of joy and peace (Psalm 16:11). I love the Lord my God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30).
