Tending The Unseen Realms

Tending The Unseen Realms

โ€œHis intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.โ€
Ephesians 3:10 (NIVUK)

There is far more to life than the physical realm we see with our natural eyes. Scripture consistently pulls back the curtain to remind us that we live surrounded by unseen dimensions, spiritual realities that influence what happens in our homes, our cities, and our calling. As believers, we are not only responsible for what we can touch and manage, but for what we must discern, pray into, and steward in the Spirit.

In Ephesians 3, the apostle Paul is unfolding the breathtaking mystery of the Gospel: that salvation in Christ is not reserved for one people group but has burst open for the nations. Yet tucked inside this revelation is a profound statement of purpose. Paul says that Godโ€™s intent is that now, through the church, His manifold wisdom would be made known โ€” not just to people โ€” but to โ€œthe rulers and authorities in the heavenly realmsโ€ (Ephesians 3:10).

This means the Gospel is not only preached to be heard; it is proclaimed to be enforced. Every time the good news is declared, sung, prayed, and lived, something happens in the unseen realm. The church becomes Godโ€™s megaphone, announcing His wisdom, His victory, and His rule to spiritual powers that seek to resist His purposes.

All around us exist invisible places of influence and authority. Scripture is clear that these forces aim to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), opposing Godโ€™s mission in subtle and overt ways. Yet Paul flips the narrative. We are not victims in a cosmic battle; we are participants with authority. The church is called to reveal Godโ€™s will and counteract the work of the enemy, speaking truth and light into hidden places.

Jesusโ€™ own ministry makes this unmistakable. Demons recognised Him before people did (Mark 1:24). Storms erupted as He crossed territories (Mark 4:37). A legion of demons begged for permission and fled into pigs that rushed into the lake (Mark 5:12โ€“13). Again and again, we see unseen forces reacting to the arrival of Godโ€™s Kingdom. And Jesusโ€™ response was never fear โ€” it was authority. โ€œPeace, be stillโ€ (Mark 4:39). And the storm obeyed.

Our role mirrors His. We pray, โ€œYour kingdom comeโ€ (Matthew 6:10). We remember that we are seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). We speak to storms, resist the devil, release praise, and declare Godโ€™s promises. We donโ€™t just manage visible life; we steward the unseen atmosphere around us.

So donโ€™t only tend your home, your family, and your possessions. Tend the unseen realm too. Bind the enemy. Release worship. Confess Scripture over your household. As you steward both heaven and earth, you will establish peace and see Godโ€™s will done โ€œon earth as it is in heavenโ€ (Matthew 6:10).

Believe & Confess Meditation & Declaration

I declare that through me, as part of Christโ€™s church, Godโ€™s manifold wisdom is made known to rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 3:10). I am seated with Christ in heavenly places and operate from His authority and victory (Ephesians 2:6). I speak peace to every storm and see heavenโ€™s order established where there was chaos (Mark 4:39). I dwell securely under the protection of the Most High, and no scheme of the enemy prospers against my household (Psalm 91:1โ€“2). I resist the devil, and he flees as I stand firm in Christ (James 4:7). Godโ€™s kingdom comes through my prayers, words, and obedience, and His will is done in my life and surroundings (Matthew 6:10).
