Some Miracles Take Time
โNow the Jordan is in flood all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the waterโs edge, the water from upstream stopped flowingโฆโ (Joshua 3:15โ16 NIVUK)
Picture this moment. Israel finally stands at the threshold of promise. Forty years of wandering behind them, the land of inheritance before them โ and between them, a river in flood. This wasnโt a gentle brook. The Jordan swelled with harvest waters, raging and impassable. Yet God said, Step in.
And they did. Priests carrying the Ark โ the presence of God โ stepped into the river. But hereโs whatโs easy to miss: the water didnโt dry instantly where they stood. Scripture says the water stopped โa great distance away, at a town called Adam.โ Thatโs around 15โ20 miles upstream. Meaning: the moment they obeyed, the miracle began โ but it took time for that miracle to reach where they were standing.
Can you imagine? Their feet are in floodwaters. Nothing around them looks different. No instant drying. No dramatic parting. No trumpet blast. But upstream โ unseen, unheard โ heaven was already moving. Water had stopped. The miracle was in motion.
Some miracles take time.
God says forgive โ and you obey โ yet the relationship still looks strained.
God says sow โ you give โ yet harvest seems slow.
God says move, apologise, step out, end something, begin something โ and you stand there, ankle-deep in the flood, wondering if anything happened.
Oh, friend โ something has happened.
Upstream, God is shifting hearts. Conversations are forming you canโt hear. Doors are unlocking in halls youโll never enter. Angels are moving. Spirit-winds are blowing. Alignments are forming. Deliverance is marching toward you โ even if the ground beneath you is still wet.
Think of Jericho โ seven silent days, seven silent walks. Not a brick moved. Yet heaven was shaking foundations before the first crack appeared.
Think of Abraham โ years of waiting, wandering, trusting โ until Isaac laughed in his arms.
Think of Moses โ blow after blow against Pharaohโs stubbornness โ obedience chiselling through resistance until the sea swallowed tyranny and freedom dawned.
Persevere. Stand in obedience. Leave the pace of the outcome to your Father.
If He spoke, Heโs acting. If you obeyed, Heโs working. What began upstream will soon meet your feet and the ground will dry beneath you.
Hold steady in the place of obedience.
The water has already stopped.
Your miracle is on its way.

I declare that as I wait, God is at work. My waiting is not empty, wasted, or forgotten. โThose who wait for the Lord shall renew their strengthโ (Isaiah 40:31). Even now, He is preparing my miracle in His perfect time. I choose faith over frustration and trust over fear. I believe that God hears my prayers and sees my tears. โThe Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him, to the one who seeks Himโ (Lamentations 3:25).
I declare that my miracle will comeโ it will not be late, it will not be early, but right on time. โThough it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delayโ (Habakkuk 2:3). What God has promised, He is faithful to fulfill.
