RISE!

RISE!

โ€œI lift up my eyes to the mountains โ€“ where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.โ€
โ€ญโ€ญPsalmsโ€ฌ โ€ญ121โ€ฌ:โ€ญ1โ€ฌ-โ€ญ2โ€ฌ โ€ญNIVUKโ€ฌ

Psalm 121 sits among the 15 Psalms known as the Songs of Ascents โ€” sometimes called the the Psalms of Degrees, or the Songs of the Stairway.

Imagine it: the Children of Israel climbing toward Jerusalem, breath rising in the cool air, steps echoing on stone, voices lifting ancient melodies heavenward. Some believe these songs were sung on the 15 steps leading up to the Temple itself. The lesson to us is unmistakable. Worship rises. We ascend. We climb from the ordinary into the extraordinary, from the dusty earth into the brightness of Godโ€™s presence.

When the Psalmist gazes at the mountains, heโ€™s not longing for their safety or their strength. He is letting his eyes be drawn upward. โ€œWhere does my help come from?โ€ Not from the hills. Not from human strength. Nor from the noise of the valley. โ€œMy help comes from the Lord,โ€ he declares โ€” the Maker of every mountain, every horizon, every breath. His worship lifts him above the landscape of fear and into the realm of divine help.

Much of our lives are lived in the lower world โ€” under headlines that lie, under pressures that grind, under emotions that pull us down. Itโ€™s easy, even for believers, to dwell in the lowlands of anxiety, mistrust, accusation and toil. But worshipโ€ฆ oh, worship is your stairway. Worship is your upward wind. Worship lifts you to the high realm of Godโ€™s love, joy and peace.

Jesus tore the veil so you donโ€™t have to stay earth-bound. You have been given access to the heights โ€” to glory, to the courts of heaven, to the very presence of the King. But how do we get there when the world is roaring around us?

We rise by degrees. We rise by faith. We rise by opening our Bibles, whispering worship, confessing sin, meditating on promises, lifting songs even when our voice shakes. These are your stairs. Your ascent. Your upward pull. And as you rise, you war in the Spirit, declare Godโ€™s wisdom, and take your seat in heavenly places.

So where are you today? Lost in a valley? Sing. Struggling through confusion? Sing. Battered by stormy thoughts? Sing. Rise and sing. Climb a step, then another. Let your soul catch the wind of the Spirit.

Declare like David: โ€œBless the Lord, O my soul!โ€ And as you do, youโ€™ll feel it โ€” the lift, the shift, the ascent.

Donโ€™t stay low. Lift your eyes. Lift your voice. Rise into the realm where your Helper reigns.

Believe & Confess Meditation & Declaration

I lift my eyes beyond what I can see, beyond what I can fix, beyond what I can control. โ€œI lift up my eyes to the mountainsโ€”where does my help come from?โ€ (Psalm 121:1). I declare with confidence and faith: my help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth (Psalm 121:2). Not from my own strength, not from people, not from circumstancesโ€”but from the One who formed all things. I trust the God who never slumbers nor sleeps, who watches over my coming and going. When I feel weak, He is my strength. When I feel unsure, He is my anchor.
