Now Watch Me Move!

Now Watch Me Move!

โ€œBut the Lord said to Gideon, โ€˜There are still too many men. Take them down to the water, and I will thin them out for you there. If I say, โ€œThis one shall go with you,โ€ he shall go; but if I say, โ€œThis one shall not go with you,โ€ he shall not go.โ€™โ€
โ€ญโ€ญJudgesโ€ฌ โ€ญ7โ€ฌ:โ€ญ4โ€ฌ โ€ญNIVUKโ€ฌโ€ฌ

There are moments in our walk with God when He looks at the very things we think we needโ€”strength, resource, certainty, confidenceโ€”and says, โ€œThereโ€™s still too much of you in this.โ€ Gideon faced an enemy vast as locusts, and yet God kept shrinking his army. Tens of thousands became three hundred. Why? Because God wasnโ€™t trying to make Gideon strongerโ€”He was making him smaller, so that Godโ€™s strength could be revealed.

Sometimes my greatest problem isnโ€™t that Iโ€™m too weak for God to useโ€ฆ itโ€™s that Iโ€™m too strong. Oh, I am weak in all the human waysโ€”fragile in emotion, clumsy in confidence, often anxious and uncertain. But my ego can be strong. My insecurity can be strong. My pride, my willfulness, my perfectionismโ€”oh, they can roar like an army of thirty thousand! And like Gideon, God comes along and thins them out. โ€œThis one shall goโ€ฆ this one shall not.โ€

Youโ€™ll be the same. We feel weak in a hundred obvious ways, yet God still has much to remove. Itโ€™s not your weakness Heโ€™s trying to deal withโ€”itโ€™s your strength. The strength you place in yourself. The strength you find in control. The strength you take in your own ideas and methods. The strength that quietly whispers, โ€œIโ€™ve got this.โ€

But the Kingdom doesnโ€™t come by accumulationโ€”it comes by reduction.

Throughout Scripture, God delights in using the small, the unlikely, the diminished. Five loaves and two fish to feed a multitude. A basket-bound baby to infiltrate a nation. A prisoner named Joseph to rescue Egypt. A forgotten shepherd boy to slay a giant. A teenage virgin to carry the Messiah. Again and again, God says, โ€œGive Me the little, the weak, the overlookedโ€”and watch what I can do.โ€

I tell myself I need to get stronger, better, more capable. And yes, grow strong in the Word, strong in prayer, strong in love. But at the same time, He leads me to grow weakerโ€”less controlling, less anxious, less self-reliant. He weakens the parts of me I tend to glory in, until I come to the end of myselfโ€ฆ and the beginning of Him.

So if you feel reduced todayโ€”if life has thinned you out, pruned you back, humbled you deeplyโ€”donโ€™t fight it. Donโ€™t argue when God reduces you. He is preparing you for victory. He is removing what would steal His glory, so that when breakthrough comes, youโ€™ll know it was Him.

And when you are finally small enough, quiet enough, surrendered enoughโ€ฆ God leans in and whispers, โ€œNow watch Me move.โ€

Believe & Confess Meditation & Declaration

I declare that my weakness is not a limitation to Godโ€”it is an invitation for His power. โ€œGod chose the weak things of the world to shame the strongโ€ (1 Corinthians 1:27). What I lack, He supplies with grace. I will not despise my fragility or hide my need, for the Lord works most clearly where I cannot rely on myself. โ€œMy grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weaknessโ€ (2 Corinthians 12:9).

I declare that God delights in using ordinary, broken, and willing hearts to reveal His extraordinary strength. Like Gideon, I may feel small, but the Lord is with me (Judges 6:14โ€“16). Today, I offer God all that I amโ€”strengths and weaknesses alike. I boast not in myself, but in the Lord. His power rests upon me.

Hi. We’re still in the middle of great traumas with the latest one being a very expensive parcel that DPD have lost. Today one of their representatives is coming here. We were feeling as if we were somehow culpable when that is totally not the case. John is in even more pain and he was feeling awful. I looked at my emails and read the title of this devotional. I went straight downstairs to John and declared it. God is saying ,”Now watch me move'”. Thank you God, we are watching. PS Thanks for the rest of the devotional too! I am feeling weak and am declaring that God’s strength is sufficient for me. Bless you guys.
