It’s Not Over

It’s Not Over

โ€œUnless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels โ€” a plentiful harvest of new lives.โ€ โ€” John 12:24 NLT

If you have a garden, you’ll understand the cycles of nature. You plant seeds in the spring, watch them grow and flourish through the summer, enjoy the beauty of their flowers, and then autumn arrives. Eventually winter comes, the flowers fade, the leaves fall and everything seems to die.

But here’s the wonderful thing about nature: winter is not the end of the story!

Beneath the surface, something is happening that you cannot see. Seeds are waiting, roots are developing and the promise of another spring is already there.

Jesus used this very picture when He spoke about a kernel of wheat falling into the ground and dying. Unless it does, it remains just one seed. But when it is planted, it produces a harvest.

There is a powerful spiritual principle here: sometimes what looks like an ending is actually the beginning of something new.

Don’t Mistake a Season for the End

Perhaps you have dreams, visions or promises that seem to have died a death. Things you once felt excited about, prayed over and believed for now seem distant or impossible.

You might be asking, โ€œWas that it? Have I missed my opportunity? Has my season passed?โ€

But remember, life with God is not always a straight line. There are seasons of planting, growing, pruning, waiting and harvesting. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us that there is a season for everything and a time for every purpose under heaven.

Jesus tells us in John 15:2 that the Father prunes fruitful branches so they can become even more fruitful.

Pruning can be painful. It means something is being cut away. But pruning is not punishment; it is part of the process of producing fruit.

And sometimes God allows us to let go of one season because He is leading us into another.

Keep Watering the Seed

Don’t give up simply because you cannot see the growth. Don’t abandon what God has placed in your heart just because the timing hasn’t worked out as you expected.

Of course, we must remain open to God’s direction. Sometimes He changes our plans, redirects our steps or asks us to release something we have been holding onto. But don’t confuse a delay with a denial, or a winter season with the death of every dream.

Galatians 6:9 encourages us not to grow weary in doing good, because in due season we will reap if we do not give up.

Keep praying. Keep believing. Keep sowing faithfully. Keep your heart sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

God is the God of resurrection! The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is at work in those who belong to Him (Romans 8:11).

So lift your eyes. Your story is not finished. There may be a new season ahead, a fresh opportunity, a different direction or a harvest you cannot yet imagine.

Don’t give up in the winter. Keep trusting the One who holds the seasons in His hands. It’s not over!
