I Cling To You
โI cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely.โ Psalm 63:8 NLT
Itโs never easy weathering a storm, especially one that threatens complete destruction like a hurricane.
It is always devastating to watch TV footage of the latest hurricanes ripping through beautiful Caribbean islands. Homes, trees and lives lost.
The marine life suffers too, storm surges and huge waves destroy coral reefs and washes up fish and crabs. But thereโs one simple creature that impresses me when the storms roll in…The Limpet.
During storms they cling to the rocks they live on and itโs near-impossible to dislodge them once theyโve clamped down. Thereโs something we can mirror here from this humble sea creature.
Psalm 63 says, โI cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely.โ Psalm 63:8 NLT
We all face or have faced storms in life that turn our world upside down, causing pain and fear and perhaps loss.
Whilst David was running for his life he cried out to God again and again in the Psalms…
โTruly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.โ Psalm 62:6 NIV
David weathered storm after storm through his life but his faith was โclampedโ on God his rock. He was not shaken.
Sometimes the meteorologists will predict a storm will get worse before itโll get better. Joseph knew this to be true:
For a young man with such promise and purpose his life took a turn for the worst. Bullied and sold as a slave by his own brothers (Gen 37), and then later thrown into prison left to die (Genesis 39), Joseph went from favoured to falsely accused. He couldnโt have been further from his dreams!
In prison he had to dig deep into the well of his own spirit, press in and connect with God. God was all he had to cling to, and through this storm Joseph chose to โclampdownโ on to God his rock, which eventually led to the fulfillment of his dreams.
โAs for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.โ Genesis 50:20 AMP
Whatever storm youโre going through, donโt let it destroy you, or toss you around in its violent waves. Cling to the rock, clamp down and hold on to God. It may just be that this storm will be the making of you.
โI hold on to you for dear life, and you hold me steady as a post.โ Psalm 63:8 MSG
Action Point: Click on our 24/7 worship stream below and spend some time in Godโs presence. Let Him be your rock, your strong tower. His presence is a place to hide during the storms of life.

I choose to hold fast to the One who never fails. Even when I donโt understand the path, I trust the One who leads me. Like Jacob, I declare: โI will not let You go unless You bless meโ (Genesis 32:26). I cling to God with relentless faith and bold surrender, knowing that He is my refuge, my strength, and my ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).
My grip is not in my own strengthโbut in His unfailing grip on me. He upholds me with His righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10), and nothing can separate me from His love (Romans 8:38โ39).

Thanks for this. I read it in the The Passion translation which is beautiful:
With passion I pursue and cling to you.
Because I feel YOUR grip on my life, I keep my soul close to your heart.
Amen I cling on with all my might x
