Hosting His Holy Presence
โWho may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heartโฆโ โ Psalm 24:3โ4
To be in Godโs presence is the greatest of joys. Itโs the atmosphere of heavenโGod with us. Yet His presence is also holy, weighty, and sensitive. It can be welcomed or grieved, hosted or ignored. As worshippers, and especially as leaders, we must learn to carry Godโs presence with reverence.
In 1 Samuel 4, Israel foolishly trusted in the Arkโa symbol of Godโs presenceโinstead of in God Himself. They said, โIt will save us,โ and the result was devastating. Godโs presence is not a formula or a prop. When we rely more on โthe Itโ than โthe Himโโon songs, systems, or styles rather than on intimacyโwe risk losing the very glory we seek.
Later, in 1 Samuel 5, the Ark was placed beside false gods in a pagan temple. God toppled them. He wonโt share space with idolsโwhether theyโre made of wood or ego. Worship ministry must never become about performance or personality. As one leader once heard God say, โItโs not your meetingโitโs mine.โ
Then, in 1 Samuel 6, men died for lifting the Arkโs lid. They had removed the mercy seatโthe covering of blood between Godโs glory and the law. Without the blood, holiness consumes. This is a stark reminder: we approach God only through the sacrifice of Jesus. Without the cross, worship becomes dangerous.
King David later learned this the hard way in 1 Chronicles 13. He tried to transport the Ark using worldly methodsโa cart instead of priestly shouldersโand tragedy struck. Worship must follow Godโs ways, not cultureโs trends.
To carry Godโs presence is a fearful, beautiful calling. It requires humility, holiness, and hunger. Lay down the โIts.โ Embrace the Him. Honour His presenceโand let His glory fill the house.
Worship is not a show. Itโs a sanctuary.

Today, I welcome the Holy Spirit into every area of my lifeโinto my thoughts, my decisions, my home, my work, and my worship. I choose not to rush through moments but to make room for Him, to be still and know He is God (Psalm 46:10).
I declare that my heart is an altar, my life a sanctuary, and my worship an invitation for the King of Glory to dwell within. Like Moses, I say, โIf Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from hereโ (Exodus 33:15). I desire to carry His presence with reverence, intimacy, and joy.
