Carried on Eagles’ Wings
“You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.”
Exodus 19:4
Have you ever looked back on your life and realised — the best things that ever happened to you weren’t achieved by your effort, but unfolded by God’s grace?
I can honestly say that in so many parts of my life, the greatest accomplishments, opportunities and connections have been heaven-sent. They came with little striving from me — just simple obedience and faith. Looking back, I wish I’d learned this lesson sooner. There would have been fewer Ishmaels — the results of my own impatience — and more Isaacs, the effortless gifts of God’s promise. My striving has often birthed things that wore me out, but the things heaven birthed through me came light and easy.
I’ll never forget standing in a meeting once, surrounded by great men of God from across the nation. As we prayed, I felt a divine hand press gently on my chest, pushing me back into the big, soft seat behind me. Then I heard the whisper of the Spirit: “You’ll do more if you sit.”
It was one of those moments where you instantly know what God means. “Stop striving,” He was saying. “Rest. My yoke is easy and My burden is light. Ministry isn’t about working for Me — it’s about working with Me.”
Friend, that’s the lesson of Exodus 19:4. God reminds His people, “I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself.” He didn’t just rescue them from Egypt; He carried them through the wilderness. He didn’t tell them to flap harder — He lifted them.
Isaiah 46:4 says, “Even to your old age and grey hairs I am He… I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.” And Deuteronomy 1:31 says, “The Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place.”
When we learn to live from that sabbath-like posture — working from rest instead of for rest — we find ourselves swept along by divine strength. We stop pushing, and start soaring. We stop worrying, and start walking in grace.
Maybe today, God is whispering the same thing to you: “You’ll do more if you sit.” Let Him carry you on eagles’ wings. Stop flapping — and start flying.

I trust the God who renews my strength. “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles” (Isaiah 40:31). I rise above fear, exhaustion, and heaviness—not because I am strong, but because He is. I declare that I am carried by the Lord, not by my own strength. Just as He promised, “I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to Myself” (Exodus 19:4). When I am weary, He lifts me; when the journey feels long, He bears me up.
