BUTTERFLIES in a World of Caterpillars

BUTTERFLIES in a World of Caterpillars

โ€œSee, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?โ€
Isaiah 43:19 NIVUK

There are moments in our journey when heaven breaks in, not with a crash, but with an unfolding. Two and a half years ago, we watched a miracle quietly blossom. Two years ago, the keys were placed into our hands. After a long, wearying season of divine delay, suddenlyโ€ฆ it happened. The new thing emerged, not by striving, but by the gentle, sovereign unfolding of God.

I believe many are standing in that same holy moment. You can feel itโ€”like the faint rustle of a curtain just before dawn. God is shifting His people from forcing outcomes to letting things unfold. He is bringing new purposes you never dreamed of, new alignments, new places, new ideas, and new moves of Kingdom life. Heaven is busyโ€”quietly, powerfullyโ€”preparing an UNFOLDING.

But every divine unfolding requires a divine unravelling. To embrace the new, weโ€™ve had to lay down the old. Weโ€™ve dismantled what was familiar. Weโ€™ve stepped away from the comfortable landscape of โ€œhow itโ€™s always been.โ€ Like Abraham leaving his homeland for a land yet unseen, weโ€™ve ventured forward with only a whisper from God. Itโ€™s stretching. Itโ€™s shaking. Itโ€™s profoundly disorienting.

And if youโ€™ve been the herald of the newโ€”the Town Crier of fresh visionโ€”you know the loneliness of that road. Some prefer Egyptโ€™s predictable slavery to the wild freedom of a Promised Land. Prophets of change often feel out of place, crying transformation in wilderness places. If thatโ€™s youโ€”keep going. Your voice matters in the transition.

Those who fully embrace Godโ€™s transformations often feel like butterflies surrounded by caterpillars. We come from the same family, yet see from different angles, speak a different language, carry a desire to fly while others cling to the ground. Donโ€™t mistake that tension for failureโ€”itโ€™s proof of your metamorphosis.

A wave of prophetic innovation is erupting across the Church. God is unfolding things differently this time. Less about five-year strategies, more about the next step. Less blueprint, more obedience. Less pushing, more perceiving. The Spirit is inviting us to trust Him in the slow reveal, to walk forward with wings still drying in His presence.

And hear this clearly: you are not alone. Donโ€™t slip into Elijahโ€™s cave, thinking youโ€™re the only one contending for the new. Thousands are stirring with the same holy dissatisfaction. These daysโ€”these shaking, stretching, beautiful daysโ€”are the ones many of us have prayed and prophesied into for decades.

The turbulence of transition will soon give way to clarity, courage, and wonder.

So keep walking. Keep believing. Keep unfolding.

These are days of holy wonder. ๐Ÿฆ‹

Believe & Confess Meditation & Declaration

God is doing something new in me, even when it feels hidden and uncomfortable. I will not fear the process, for transformation often happens in quiet places. โ€œSee, I am doing a new thing; now it springs upโ€”do you not perceive it?โ€ (Isaiah 43:19). Like a caterpillar entering the cocoon, I release the familiar and trust the work of God in the unseen. What once sustained me will not define my future. I am being transformed, not diminished. โ€œWe are being transformed into His image with ever-increasing gloryโ€ (2 Corinthians 3:18). I declare that the waiting is not wasted and the breaking is not the end. God is forming wings where there once were limits. โ€œThose who hope in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eaglesโ€ (Isaiah 40:31).

This verse was the one Dave Mallender posted on Facebook at the beginning of Covid/lockdown. He coupled it with a quote from Oliver Cromwell -“Let’s melt down the saints and put them into circulation”. It seemed like a musical so I wrote it. It has undergone many, many revisions over the last years. I always knew that I would only get the words and not the music [except for funny little tunes in my head to help the writing]. Dave enjoyed one of the earlier versions but I have improved it since. God said to wait for the right time. John and a couple of friends appreciated the later revisions as I did them. The teaching I got into it seems more and more topical and I often quote bits to myself along my journey. [If you ever wanted to look at it -just for interest- I could send it to you. ] Meanwhile the new thing is still unfolding. I sent this devotional down to John’s laptop and he wants it sent to others. Thank you again. Ruth
