Breaking Through The Boredom

Breaking Through The Boredom

ย โ€œBe still, and know that I am God.โ€ โ€” Psalm 46:10

The Resistance of Stillness

One of the greatest barriers to encountering God is not oppositionโ€”it is boredom. That quiet, restless feeling that creeps in when we slow down, when we step away from noise, when we try to seek Him without distraction. In a world saturated with constant stimulation, stillness feels unnatural, even uncomfortable.

And yet Scripture calls us into it. โ€œBe still, and know that I am Godโ€ (Psalm 46:10). Not rush and know. Not perform and know. Be still.

The Soul Settling Before Glory Comes

What many people donโ€™t realise is that when you begin to seek God over extended periods, your soul often resists before it responds. There is a slowing down that has to take place, a kind of internal recalibration. Your mind, used to constant input, begins to quiet. Your emotions, often scattered, begin to settle.

And in that spaceโ€”something begins to shift.

But most people never get there, because they leave too early.

Rebuilding the Altar of Persistence

The altar is not built in moments of convenience; it is built in moments of persistence. It is formed when you stay beyond the point of comfort, when you press past distraction, when you choose presence over productivity.

This is where seeking becomes real.

Not in the emotional highs, but in the quiet determination to remain.

When Heaven Breaks In

There is often a momentโ€”unpredictable, unscheduledโ€”when the atmosphere changes. What felt dry suddenly becomes alive. What felt distant suddenly becomes near. And in an instant, you realise that God was not absentโ€”you were simply being prepared to perceive Him.

Because seeking is not about convincing God to come.

It is about positioning yourself to recognise that He already has.

Stay a Little Longer

If you are in a season where nothing seems to be happening, do not retreat. Do not assume that the silence means absence. Stay. Linger. Build the altar again, not with urgency, but with intention.

Because on the other side of that stillnessโ€ฆ

is encounter.

Believe & Confess Meditation & Declaration

I am still before the Lord, and I encounter His presence deeply (Psalm 46:10). I wait on the Lord, and He renews my strength and lifts me up (Isaiah 40:31). As I seek Him, I find Him, because I search with all my heart (Jeremiah 29:13). God is near to me, and I am aware of His presence in my life (Acts 17:27). I do not grow weary in seeking, but remain steadfast in His presence (Galatians 6:9). The Lord rewards me as I diligently seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).
