Think Like God

Think Like God

โ€˜Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.โ€™
Joshua 1:8 NIVUK

When Joshua stood on the edge of the Promised Land, he wasnโ€™t handed a sword, a strategy, or a motivational slogan. God gave him a book. And then God says, โ€œKeep it on your lips, meditate on it day and night, and do what it says โ€” then you will prosper.โ€ Before battles, before walls fall, before victories โ€” God deals with Joshuaโ€™s mind and mouth.

Why? Because the greatest battles you will ever fight happen between your ears. Victory begins in the thought life.

Jesus echoed this truth: โ€œIf my words remain in you, ask whatever you wishโ€ (John 15:7). In other words, if you think My thoughts, align with My ways, youโ€™ll walk in My power.

Smith Wigglesworth said, โ€œIf I can only think as God thinks, I will do as Jesus did!โ€ He understood a powerful truth: to live like Christ, you must learn to think like Christ.

Your mind is a blizzard of tens of thousands of thoughts a day. They bubble up from childhood memories, traumas, personality traits, strengths, and weaknesses. But they also grow from what you surround yourself with โ€” the voices you listen to, the people you walk with, the headlines you scroll, the dramas you entertain, the culture you soak in.

Thoughts are seeds. So be careful who youโ€™re letting plant in your garden.

Political rhetoric can plant fear. Social media can sow insecurity. Even church circles and friendships โ€” good though they are โ€” can press us subtly into patterns of comparison, people-pleasing, and spiritual fatigue.

Then comes Jesus, talking about the Word of God like seed in soil, battling for space against weeds of fear, doubt, unbelief โ€” and inviting faith, trust, and prophetic vision to rise. He tells us idle words matter. He tells us faith moves mountains. And Paul reminds us, โ€œBe transformed by the renewing of your mindโ€ (Romans 12:2).

Transformation begins with meditation โ€” not mystical emptiness, but biblical filling. To meditate is literally โ€œto mutterโ€ โ€” speak it, whisper it, chew it over, rehearse it until it shapes you.

There is no greater power in the life of a believer than learning to steward your thoughts and tend the garden of your mind.

So today, wash your soul in Scripture. Read it. Whisper it. Sing it. Declare it. Let it settle deep. Marinate in Godโ€™s Word until you think His thoughts, and watch your life take on His power, presence, peace, and purpose.

Today, I choose to be transformed, by the renewing of my mind in the Word of God. I will not conform to this world, but I will allow Godโ€™s truth to reshape my thoughts, attitudes, and perspective (Romans 12:2).

I declare that the Word of God is alive and active in me, correcting, training, and equipping me for every good work (Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 3:16โ€“17). As I meditate on His Word day and night, my life is strengthened and established (Psalm 1:2โ€“3). I fix my mind on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8). I reject lies, fear, and negative patterns, and I align my thinking with the truth of Godโ€™s Word.
