Faltering Lips and Mighty Deeds
โBut Moses said to the Lord, โIf the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips?โโ

Itโs funny how different people can see you. In Exodus, Moses says, โI speak with faltering lips.โ Yet in Acts 7:22, the Bible says, โMoses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians and was mighty in words and deeds.โ So which one is true? The answer isโboth. Moses felt weak, but God saw strength.
There are some things we think about ourselves that are, at best, exaggerated, and at worst, simply not true. Weโve all got those inner narratives that whisper: โYouโre not good enoughโฆ Youโve missed your momentโฆ You donโt have what it takes.โ Those lies fence us in, hold us back, and shape our destiny if we let them. They become like invisible chainsโfamiliar, comfortable evenโbut deadly to our calling.
Thatโs why you need open, honest conversations with good, godly friendsโpeople who truly know you and have your best interests at heart. (And be careful! Donโt bare your soul to envious pseudo-friendsโtheyโll use your vulnerability as ammunition.) You need voices of truth, love, and wisdom speaking into your life. Most of all, you need Godโs Word to confront the lies.
Satanโs entire kingdom thrives on half-truths. โDid God really say?โ the serpent hissed in Eden, twisting truth into poison. He still does it today. I wonderโwhat lies are you believing about you right now? Too old? Too young? Too inexperienced? Too broken? Too late? Too much of a failure?
Even if some of it is half true, rememberโGod delights in using what the world discards. He chooses the lowly, the foolish, the โare-nots.โ He rides on stumbling colts! He blesses faltering lips!
And hereโs the amazing part: God obsesses over your weaknesses far less than you do. Youโre fixated on your flaws; Heโs focused on your future. Paul, the great apostle, was given a โthorn in the fleshโ not because he was weak, but because he was too strongโlest he become proud. Godโs message to him? โMy grace is sufficient for you.โ
So donโt envy the strong, the eloquent, the flawless. God may have allowed your weakness to keep you close to His strength. By all means, improve, grow, develop your giftsโbut above all, grow in grace.
Because one day, heaven will say of you what it said of Moses: โMighty in word and deed.โ
Even if right now, you still feel like youโve got faltering lips.

I declare that my weakness does not disqualify meโit positions me for Godโs power. โGod chose the weak things of the world to shame the strongโ (1 Corinthians 1:27). What I lack, He supplies; where I am limited, He is limitless.
I will not despise my frailty or hide my need, for the Lord declares, โMy grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weaknessโ (2 Corinthians 12:9). In my surrender, His strength is revealed. Today, I stand confidentโnot in myself, but in the power of Christ within me. When I am weak, then I am strong (2 Corinthians 12:10).
