As For Me And My House

“But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

There comes a moment, often right in the middle of life’s battles and blessings, where a line must be drawn. Joshua had seen miracles — seas parted, walls fall, manna fall from heaven. He’d seen God move in power, and he’d seen people wander in doubt. Now, at the end of his life, he looks his nation in the eye and says, “Decide.”

The world will always offer alternatives to devotion — comfort, culture, convenience. The pull of idols hasn’t changed; they may not be golden statues, but they’re still seductive. Screens, status, self. But Joshua refuses to be swept along by the tides of the moment. He plants a flag: “As for me and my house…”

That phrase is powerful. It’s not arrogance — it’s leadership. It’s covenant. It’s a father, a shepherd, a worshipper saying, “Even if the whole world bows another way — I will bow before the Lord.” It’s a declaration of identity in an age of confusion. It is the sound of a heart that has settled the issue.

Following God isn’t passive. It requires a choice — not once in a revival moment, but daily, in the unseen decisions. What you allow in your home, what voices shape your thinking, how you let the Spirit lead your habits, your values, your atmosphere.

We don’t drift into holiness. We decide into it. Joshua wasn’t just protecting his own soul — he was building a legacy. “My house,” he said. Not just me — but my children, my home, my future generations. With one sentence he carved a spiritual pathway for those who came after him.

So today — draw the line again. Speak it out loud if you need to. Not to impress heaven but to align your heart.

As for me and my house — we will serve the Lord.

Even when culture shifts.
Even when convenience whispers.
Even if you stand alone.

He’s worth it.
And your home will thank you for the stand you take today.

I declare with conviction and faith, “As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15). I choose this day—and every day—to align my life, my home, and my decisions with the ways of God.

I declare that my heart is set on the Lord alone. I reject every competing voice, divided loyalty, and misplaced priority. My worship, obedience, and devotion belong to Him. I commit my household to the Lord—our values, our conversations, our choices, and our future. God’s presence dwells in our home, and His peace rules within our walls.
